IsItGold on Android (and PC)
We’ve heard you loud and clear: many of you want IsItGold on Android.
Right now, the app is officially available on iOS only. The good news is that we’re actively developing the Android version, and our current target is late February / early March for approval on Google Play.
Until that happens, we don’t want Android users (or anyone who prefers working on a desktop computer) to be stuck waiting.
The “workaround”: use the public web test environment
If you’re on Android — or if you’d rather run tests from your PC — you can already use IsItGold via our publicly accessible test environment:
Here’s how it works:
Visit https://app.isit.gold
Create an account (registration is open)
You’ll receive free credits after signup
Use those credits to run your tests
This is currently the simplest way to access IsItGold without an iPhone.
Why do we use credits?
IsItGold is a project we built because we think it’s useful — not because it currently generates revenue.
At the same time, every single query triggers real infrastructure and API costs on our side.
That’s why the free credits are limited: we’re funding the project privately, out of pocket, and we need to keep it sustainable.
We are considering increasing the number of free credits, but we also have to balance that with operating costs. If we find a sponsor or a suitable advertising partner in the future, we can likely offer more.
Important limitations (read this before you test)
Because https://app.isit.gold is a test environment, there are a few things you should know:
Not all iOS app features are available in the test environment.
Some advanced functions work only inside the iOS app and require an iPhone.
The test environment is not running the newest version of the app.
In other words: it’s not a perfect replacement for the iOS app yet.
But it’s still a solid way to explore what IsItGold can do — and in many cases, it can deliver results that go beyond what you’d typically get from a generic “ask an AI” prompt in Bing or GPT.
Why this is still worth trying
Even in its current form, the web environment can be genuinely useful for:
Quick, practical tests when you’re sorting or evaluating materials
Learning what the system is designed to detect and explain
Getting structured, purpose-built outputs (instead of generic AI chat responses)
And of course: it finally gives Android users a way to participate right now.
We want your feedback
If you try the web test environment, we’d love to hear:
What worked well
What felt confusing
What features you most want in the Android release
Your feedback helps us prioritize what matters most for the upcoming Android version.
TL;DR
Android app is in progress — target: late February / early March
Until then, use the free web test environment: https://app.isit.gold
Registration is open and includes free credits
Test environment has limitations, but it’s still useful and fun
Thanks for your patience — and thanks for helping us make IsItGold better.
